Each year our masterful Cuppers search the vast potential of Daterra for unique small lots of coffee, Our Masterpieces.

This very small farm is a lab, where we test new ways of producing coffee. The lab is rich with new and unusual varietals, processing methods, drying techniques and limitless experiments. Each coffee has an unique cup profile and scores 88+, is fully traceable, planted and grown with history and can never be replicated.

What is the first thing that comes to your mind when you hear the name “Brazil”? Hopefully, your answer is good coffee, but most people would say samba!

Music is an enormous portion of Brazilian culture, it is so tightly woven into the daily life of our people that it has become part of the environment. It’s even common to hear that when Brazilians talk, the language sounds melodic, as if we were singing - and that makes a lot of sense: Brazil is a musical place, Brazilians are musical beings.

Inspired by the sounds of Brazil, the 2018 MASTERPIECES by Daterra auction pays homage to Brazilian music: the rhythms from all corners of the country that were born from the melting pot of our history and culture.

Just like music, coffee can be inspiring, moving and exciting. And just like a concert, coffee requires the dedication of many: here you’ll find the work of 1.400 hands of the nearly 700 people that work at our farms during harvest, plus the hearts of craftsmen, musicians and artists that translated flavors into the textures, songs and images presented in this box.

In our self-imposed challenge of improving every year, we perfected the successful processes that we created and experimented with their variations. We invented totally new, out-of-the box techniques that reveal the full potential of our best varietals and, to give you a sensorial experience of sounds and taste, we matched the personality of our coffees to the personality of our music.

We are extremely proud of the coffees we composed this year. We hope they are capable of touching audiences across the world, too. Please enjoy the tastes of our music box.

Yours sincerely,

Daterra Team ♫
