The new CRS pop up cafe! A project in collaboration with Guru Projects, La Marzocco, Labld, Sungold Milk, Wholesale Pak & Anfim Grinders.

We will be showcasing a different roaster each week by brewing all their coffees at the brew bar. 35 roasters in rotation. We will also have a retail shelf to purchase the coffee for home.

Labld will be designing the food menu and Guru Projects will be designing the interiors. Hope to see you there!

'Learning Curves' is an advanced, intensive 3 day course designed to get you on the right path and thinking critically about each area of science that creates a clean cup of coffee.

Roasting coffee is a sensorial endeavour and what we offer is a hands on and thorough curriculum designed to instil a sound understanding of each of the subjects you must have your head around to be a successful roaster.

We have identified these 3 fundamental areas of focus and have designed activities to enhance the development of your skill and personal sensibility for the 'art' of roasting.

Learning Curves- Introductory Roasting Class

WHO IS THE CLASS FOR?

This class is recommended for anyone who wants to start roasting. This class was designed to provide an entry into roasting coffee. It’s for the students who aren’t ready for an intensive course but they want to get started on their journey to roast coffee.

OUR AIM

The aim of this course is to focus on the practicality of roasting. We want you to get your hands dirty and teach you through doing. In each exercise we will have a teacher who will focus on making sure you learn each objective.

WHAT IS TAUGHT?

This class will include roasting theory and practical exercises. The class format is taught to give you a cmoplete overview of the roasting process. 

By the end of the class you will have touched on the main areas of roasting. Green analysis, roast profiling, quality control & brewing. You will be roasting on the day and at the end of the class we will also analyse how different roast profiles taste through different brew methods.

Created by Sam Sgambellone who was responsible for opening and operating the Mecca stores in Circular Quay and Ultimo as well as 4 other cafes and restaurants in the past 14 years. This broad based experience, from running restaurants to 1000 cup-a-day espresso bars, has been broken down into the Who? What? Where? Why? and How? of getting into your own cafe.

The long awaited new Synesso S200 is all the things you love about Synesso like durability, precision and reliability but at an even more accessible price. 

Since MICE, the machine has since had the full Specht Designs treatment and will be travelling up and down the east coast before moving its way across the Nullarbor to SA and finally landing in WA.
